2007 INDUSTRY TRENDS
The following chart shows
the sales trends in the radiant heating market. It includes both hydronic and
electric sales.

Hydronic Radiant
Data is reported in lineal feet of radiant tubing sold by primary suppliers.
Of the suppliers surveyed, seven reported actual sales and twelve were estimated.
The reported sales account for two thirds of the total tubing sales. Total sales
for the year 2007 were estimated at 324,377,342 lineal feet of tube. This is
a 1.7% decline over the previous year.
Pipe size distribution is as follows: 3/8” OD – 8.6% ; 1/2”
OD – 69.2%; 5/8” OD – 10.3%; 3/4” OD – 10.2%;
1” OD – 1.7%
Electric Radiant
Data is reported in nominal square feet of electric radiant surface sold by
primary suppliers. Of the suppliers surveyed, five reported actual sales and
five were estimated. The reported sales account for approximately half of the
total sales. Total sales for the year 2007 were estimated at 9,089,300 square
feet of radiant area. This represents a 48.8% increase over the previous year
Housing Starts
Data is taken from the US Censous Bureau reports. 1,353,700 starts were reported
for 2007. That is a decline of 24.8% over the previous year.
